KIDS CLOTHING GRAB BAG
Saturday, April 21, 2012
9am - 1pm
Location:  St. Matthew's United Methodist Church of Valley Forge - Walker Rd, Wayne
Grab a bag!  Fill it with clothes!
Donations accepted.

 


 
NEW OR GENTLY USED KIDS CLOTHING DONATIONS NEEDED for GRAB BAG!
  • We are looking for donations of new or gently used kids clothing for infants through teens (16 years).  Clothing for all seasons, plus shoes, boots, coats, belts, or other accessories will be accepted.

 

  • We will be collecting clothing during the week of April 8, 2012.  The following sites will have boxes or bins for collections:
    • All TESD schools - Monday (April 9) through Friday (April 13) only; school hours only; bins in main lobbies.
    • Play It Again Sports (Berwyn) - store hours only - Monday (April 9th)  through Sunday (April 15); check website for store hours
    • The Center on Central (Paoli) - still to determine times and dates
    • Doctor's Best Immediate Medical Care (Berwyn) - still to determine times and dates
    • Penn Liberty Bank (Wayne) - bank hours only
    • Area churches/preschools (Check back - more to be added!!!!)
      • Wayne Presbyterian Church (N. Wayne Ave, Radnor) - bin by office - Sunday (April 8) though Sunday (April 15)
      • St. Matthews Methodist Church/Launfal School (Walker Rd, Wayne) - Sunday (April 8) though Sunday (April 15)
      • The Baptist Church in the Great Valley (Devon) - Sunday (April 8) though Sunday (April 15)
  • There are a few private locations also collecting items for this event - you might check with your church or employer to see if they are collecting items as well.  If not - feel free to drop items off at any of the above locations!
  • Items not accepted include adult clothing, toys, or household items; stained/torn/frayed/dirty clothes or sneakers; old bathing suits, underwear or socks; clothing with inappropriate graphics or logos.  Thanks for understanding and for carefully avoiding these donations. 
  • Clothing should be washed and must meet all safety and fire retardant requirements.

Volunteers needed for Kids Clothing Grab Bag!!


If you can help us out - we'd love to hear from you!  Many of these "jobs" can be done by groups - scout groups, church youth groups, neighborhoods, etc.  Contact us at clothes@tecare.org to get involved.

Chairs needed:

*SET UP DAY Chair:  Jeanette Alwine (April 20)
*"GRAB BAG" Day event:  Lynn Greco (April 21)
*PUBLIC RELATIONS Chair:  Karin Maynard
*CLEAN UP Chair: Debbie Matthews (afternoon of April 21)

  • determine location options for any left over clothing
  • oversee clean up of room at completion of event and deliver to pre-determined location


Volunteers needed to:
*Run the collections/sorting at each site [wanted: a different person/group per site] A FEW NEEDED

  • SITES WILL INCLUDE:  ALL TESD SCHOOLS, VARIOUS CHURCHES AND PRESCHOOLS, PLAY IT AGAIN SPORTS - click here for the list and volunteer opportunities
  • arrange in advance the process for collections at your site (where?  get bin/box)
  • check on collections during the week of April 8
  • gather all items when collections finished and get them sorted
  • remove items that are dirty, torn, inappropriate, etc.; sort others by gender, size, etc.
  • clean any items that look good but are dirty
  • deliver to St. Matthews either Thursday evening (April 19) or Friday (April 20)

*Help with Setup on April 20 (and 4-7 on April 19) MANY NEEDED

  • Help receive items on April 19
  • Help set up room on April 20 in a way that will make "shopping" easiest
  • Work with dry cleaners to get coat hangers
  • Get tables as needed (above and beyond those available from church)
  • Get clothing racks if needed (try to contact local stores to borrow them)
  • Get tags for items to be separately tagged
  • Get bags for "Grab Bag" day (ask stores to donate bags)

*Help with Grab Bag Day MANY NEEDED

  • Work at check-in/check-out tables
  • Collect donations
  • Work the room to keep it organized and clean

*PR/Signs/posters volunteers: A FEW NEEDED

  • Help with PR needs as determined by chair (possible options for publicity for this event - local newspapers, mainlineneighbors.com, The Patch, the school newsletters, church bulletins, and township newsletters, cable TV)
  • Put signs around township for event - libraries, stores, etc.
  • Work with various chairs to help create signs needed for PR, for collection sites, and for Grab Bag day itself


*Delivery volunteers:
A FEW NEEDED

  • help with delivery of items from collection site to St. Matthews on April 19 (4-7) or April 20 (all day) - large van or truck desired

*Clean up volunteers:  A FEW NEEDED

  • help sort through all items left after the event and get them to the pre-designated locations

Come to the Kids Clothing Grab Bag on Saturday April 21 and get some great bargains to restock your kids closets for summer and beyond.  There will be (hopefully!) lots of clothes from which you can choose. 

Upon arriving you will be given a bag - you can fill the bag with as much as possible.  Donations will be accepted for each bag filled.  We're hopeful for $5 donations per bag.  New and special items will be individually tagged.

There will be some restrictions as to the number of bags allowed to be taken:

9:00-10:00* - limit of 1 bag of clothes per adult
10:00-11:00*  - limit of 2 bags of clothes per adult
11:00-noon - limit of 3 bags of clothes per adult
noon-1:00 - unlimited number of bags per adult

* Open ONLY to Tredyffrin & Easttown residents only from 9-11.

All donations will go to support T&E Care's efforts to help families in our community.
