The mission of T&E Care is to maintain a network of people providing financial and other material assistance to persons in need in and around the Tredyffrin and Easttown township area.

THANK YOU FOR VISITING T&E CARE!  We look forward to your support!  Sign up to help us out, offer a donation, support some of our programs, or join us at an event (see below).  You can also follow us on facebook!  We have it all!

U12 Paoli Wildcat team collects food and cleaning supplies for the T&E Care holiday drive.

Holiday Drive
2011

CHS Girls Lacrosse collect toys for T&E Care.
The Holiday Drive for 2011 is officially finished.  EVERY request for support was met through your generous donations.  NO T&E Care general funds will be needed again this year to support this program.  That leaves our treasury in good shape with the winter PECO bills to come!    63 families are getting assistance from T&E Care and over 125 toys for the Winter Wonder program!  That's well over 300 local individuals that have been helped through your generosity!
We really appreciate all of your support!  Every individual toy, every box of cereal, every winter coat, it all adds up to making a huge difference for some families that have little to hope for these days.  We appreciate the many families that supported our drive with donations of gifts, food, cleaning supplies, gift cards, or just by making a donation.  Thanks to those who were drop-off locations (the Lords, the Fishers, the Sticklins, the Gormans, the Christys, the Casciatos), and to all those who helped sort, wrap and deliver.  And a huge cheer to Melody Ticknor, Pat Clark, and especially Lisa Christy for the many hours spent running the event in a way that makes it look so easy!  GREAT JOB to all!

Hats off also to the groups that worked on behalf of the drive:
Long and Foster Realtors (ran a food drive)
Coldwell Banker Preferred (did a food/cleaning supply/toiletry drive)
CHS Girls Lacrosse Team (collected toys)
T&E Kids Care Club (collected toys)
4 Counties Garden Club (provided holiday centerpieces for some local families)
VFES 4th grade classes adopted a family
TESD central office staff adopted a family
DES, BES, and HES PTOs each adopted a family
NEES did a book collection for the families
CHS National Honors Society (collected toys)
Hayden Hoopla - neighborhood party - collected gift cards for T&E Care
The Murphy neighborhood party - collected gift cards for T&E Care
The Quarters holiday party - collected food for T&E Care
CHS Boy's Lacrosse team (ran a fund raiser for the holiday drive)
The Garden Shoppe LTD, Wayne (donated Christmas trees for a few local families)
CHS Ice Hockey Team (collected toys)
Paoli Wildcat U12 boys team (did a food/cleaning supplies drive)
VFES Junior Girl Scout Troop 456 (baked over 800 cookies and made up 60 bags of snowman soup mix)

A number of Wisteria Lane families (made over 20 tins of cookies)
A number of families from Fernfield Circle (collected gift cards)

WOW - what a team effort!

  • I want to thank TE Cares for the baskets and generous gift cards.  It was such a blessing to receive this at Christmas time. You all made this a wonderful Christmas for my children when it otherwise would not have been.  I know during these hard economic times you all help so many families in need and I really want you to know that I greatly appreciate the help.  I hope you all had a blessed Holiday and you all are very special people to do what you do each year. Thank you from the bottom of my heart and may you have a blessed New Year.
  • First I want to say THANK YOU SOOO MUCH! Once again TE CARES has made this Christmas a dream come true. Unfortunatly this year is just as rough as last year finacially but with the help of EVERYONE in the TECARES org. I was able to give my children a Merry Christmas. We also had a GREAT EXPERIENCE watching the Nutcracker! Thanks to whoever donated those tickets.  It was an amazing show!!! We are hoping to go again one day. I hope this New Year brings peace and blessings to you and your family.
  • I wanted to thank you on behalf of my family and myself for the generosity extended to us this Christmas. We were so thankful for all the items we were so kindly given, and which made our Christmas, Christmas! Everything, every single item has been appreciated and used or eaten by one or all of us, and has been most gratefully received, from the gifts to the vouchers, the food, all the way through to the toothpaste! We thank everyone involved for their kindness, thoughtfulness and effort on our behalf. A very Happy New Year to you all.

  • There's a tune in my head from one of my favorite movies, White Christmas, I think it's appropriate for the folks at TEcares, it goes like this... "If you're worried and cannot sleep, just count your blessing, in stead of sheep- and you'll fall a sleep counting your blessings..."

TEcares has been a constant blessing to me, the house where my family lived was affected by mold & mildew from hurricane Irene, we had to move. Many sleepless nights I worried and didn't know what to do. Sometimes we let pride get in the way and you try and try to manage on your own. What I've learned in life, there's people who honestly want to help, all you need to do is reach-out to them  I reached out... TEcares grabbed my hands and led me out of despair. I believe in Angels, they really are all around us! My sincerest thanks to TEcares for all you've done for my family.  Merry Christmas and all the Blessings for a Wonderful New Year!
  • I just wanted to say Thank You again for the food and gifts. This couldn't have come at a better time. I hope you and your family have a happy and blessed Holiday.
  • We received the card and presents today for the kids from TE Cares and wanted to say  Thank You.  We really appreciate it.   Have a wonderful  holiday and Merry Christmas.
  • This is greatly appreciated! Have a wonderful Christmas!
  • Thank you for remembering us with the Christmas donations.  The ladies came last night and delivered the presents.  they were so kind.  We are so grateful for the blessing you bestowed upon  us.  It really helped out. Please forgive me for sending an electronic thank you for something so personal and special. There are no words to say how appreciative we are that you thought of our family.  Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.  May your Christmas season be as joyous as the joy you have brought to so many.
  • THANK YOU!  My family and I pray you, and yours, have a Blessed Christmas and a Happy New Year!  I look forward to connecting with you for more budgeting support in 1/12.  Have a great day today!
  • We'd like to thank you again for delivering the presents to our home. We're sorry we couldn't all be there to receive them, but our daughter said wonderful things about your visit. We really appreciate what T/E Cares does for families like ours.  Thank you so much and Happy Holidays!
  • I just want to say thank you for all the gifts! we didn't open them yet but they look amazing!

SPECIAL NEEDS FOR LOCAL FAMILIES

If you have the ability to help with any of these VERY important needs for a few of our local families - please let us know.   The power of "community" can make the impossible possible!

Assorted items:
Nothing specific at this time.

Baby Items:

Nothing specific requested at this time.

Appliances/Furniture:

Please contact us if you can help with any of these:

1/23/12 - a family could really use a 2nd refrigerator - very large family!
1/17/12 - a family needs a tall dresser
1/5/12 - a family needs a stove

Clothing:

 None needed at this time.

Cars:
(See Donating Cars and Services page for more information.)

We know of a numerous local families who are desperate to get a "new" car.  Some of these families currently have cars, but the cars are FALLING apart and unsafe to drive.   If they lose the car, they lose their jobs.  They can't pay their rent without getting to work.  The cycle begins.  Getting a "new" car will stop the tailspin before things get out of control. Some families RIGHT IN OUR AREA have no car and this is limiting their housing and job options because they can only look for housing and jobs on a transportation line.   If you have a car that works well that you would like to sell cheap or donate to a local family, please let us know. We will work with you on applying for a tax deduction for this donation.  This would be a great opportunity to get a special tax deduction while truly changing a family's life.

If you can help out with anything requested on this page - please email us at help@tecare.org.   THANKS!

Other T&E Care Holiday Events

The annual Berwyn Tree Lighting Ceremony took place on Sunday evening, December 4.  T&E Care hosted a table at the event and collected 5 boxes of cleaning supplies as part of our holiday drive. Lots of people donate toys at the holidays, but the gifts that many adults find the most useful are baskets of cleaning supplies!  Thanks to all who donated these supplies to our important program - you can't imagine how helpful a bottle of Lysol can be to a family!!!!

*****
Again this year T&E Care provided Thanksgiving dinners to 8 local families.  These meals were made at The Kitchen Workshop in Paoli on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving.  These dinners were again a HUGE hit!  Comments from families receiving the dinners include:

I wanted to say thank you from my children and I for the absolutely delicious Thanksgiving dinner and additional groceries. We are extremely grateful. We hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving and wish you a very Merry Christmas.

We are totally blown away! Thank you to you and EVERY volunteer that made this Thanksgiving so special!!! We were not expecting half of what we received. And the real kicker was that most of Thanksgiving dinner was prepared. Ah, so thankful! :)   Additionally, the extra food and goodies were a huge blessing. I lost track when I was able to squeeze fresh produce into our budget. What a special treat.  Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

OMG! Thanks so much for the dinner. It was so much I was able to share it with a neighbor!! You have been such a great help to my family and I that I cannot thank you with words.

Words alone can not express the amazement on our faces when we saw all of that wonderful thanksgiving food that was delivered to us.  We truly were shocked at the amount and the love that was put into it.  We had a wonderful thanksgiving thanks to you and your group.  Thank you so much for your constant care and concern to our family alone!  we truly appreciate it!  thank you :)  I hope you had a nice thanksgiving as well.  All my love to you and your group.

I wanted to send thanks on behalf of my kids and myself for the most wonderful and generous food gift we received from you , Art, and kind people in our locality. I was grateful not only for the items to make a full Thanksgiving meal but also other items which made many other meals. The children in particular enjoyed the cheese and fruit, and I was so happy to receive extras like butter and coffee. It was a lovely day - we ate, went for a walk and had a nice relaxing time.  It helped to take the sting out of the fact we had to give up my daughter's car the following day.  I am also pleased to report that I have, as of today, been able to get a temporary seasonal job for a few weeks at one of the stores at the mall. It does not pay at all well but it is better than no job , while I continue to try and get a position in my skill, and will help keep the  wolves from the door. I start with orientation tomorrow morning.  Many many thanks to all.

Thanks again to
Art Roman of The Kitchen Workshop for providing much of the food needed for the dinner, and to the students from the Amana Foundation who donated the much needed fresh produce.  Our Lady of The Assumption Church (Strafford) donated turkeys.  Our friends at Johnson Matthey (Wayne) donated the funds to buy some of the needed extra food.  And the Haydens provided all the pies!      Special thanks to all those who came to the event to help with the cooking, to those who dropped off extra food, and to those who delivered some of the dinners.  And VERY special thanks to Cindy Gilroy for coordinating the event!  Another fabulous team effort! (Pictures of the volunteers working can be found here.)

*****
We will provided dinners for another 13 families at Christmas time.  The first 8 families received their dinners (and lots of extra food) on Dec. 22.  The rest got theirs on Christmas Eve.  We've heard many thankful comments from those who received the food so far.  Thanks again to Amy Ard, the Amana Foundation, the folks in
the finance department at AMG (Advanced Metallurgical Group) in Wayne, Art Roman (Kitchen Workshop again!), the Bird family and the Hay family for their special assistance with these dinners!  Questions please contact us at holidaydinner@tecare.org.

Making a donation to T&E Care in lieu of a gift

Are you struggling to think of the perfect gift for the person on your list who has everything?  Consider making a donation to T&E Care in his/her name?  This option is always available - at the holidays or anytime of year.  Information on making donations to honor others can be found on our donations page.  A letter will be sent to your recipient alerting them of your kind donation (or we can send a card to you for you to wrap and give yourself).

Thanks for considering this option.

Many THANKS for the recent donations ....

  • 12/15/11 - Once again we applaud John Toates of Peter Zimmeran Architects (Berwyn) and the Mark and Wenzinger families who have donated 28 vouchers good for admission to the Pennsylvania Ballet performances of the Nutcracker.  What a VERY special treat for many of our local families.
  • 11/14/11 - many thanks for being selected by the Elite Foundation as a recipient of their fall 2011 grant.  We really appreciate the support of this very special foundation!
  • 11/6/11 - incredible thanks to TD Bank for presenting out first annual check related to our Affinity Program membership.  Jeff Salvo, manager of the Devon Branch was at the Fall Fest and presented a check to us for $11,177!   These funds will be put toward our College Assistance Program - to help local kids have the funds to continue to stay in college even with limited funding from home.  This is the easiest fund raiser ever - so if you want to help our 2012 check be even bigger - please call Jeff and sign up!  More details can be found at the TD Bank Affinity Program description.
  • 11/9/11 -  Another huge thanks to George Shoffner and Kristin Thies at Lewis, Shoffner & Co (King of Prussia) for again this year preparing a review of our financial statements at no cost to us.  This generous offer of assistance saves us much money that we can instead use to help families.  George and Kristin are really terrific people!
  • 11/5/11 - Special thanks to Karin Maynard and Brian Pierce for creating the incredible story cards we used for decoration at the Fall Fest.  Special thanks also for their help upgrading our T&E Care brochure!
  • 10/24/11 - Thanks to Steve's Sewing, Vacuum & Quilting (King of Prussia) for donating a gift card to a family who lost their sewing machine.  We were able to get a donated machine from a community member, but this gift card will help replace some of the supplies needed.
  • 9/26/11 - Hats off to the Devon Elementary School PTO for their recent donation to T&E Care.  How wonderful when the PTOs can support our many efforts!
  • 9/18/11 - Many thanks to the families from the Trinty Presbyterian Vacation Bible School for taking up a collection this summer for T&E Care.  We received the donation at the church service on the 18th, and really appreciate their support of our efforts!
  • 8/3/11 - Thanks to Comcast Spectacor Foundation for their recent donation to T&E Care.  In talking with the foundation about our programs, especially our summer camp program, they felt that this fit into their mission of fun for the local kids.  We greatly appreciate their support.
  • 7/12/11 - Hats off to the many families who participated in the Wayne Presbyterian Church Vacation Bible School collection called "Across the street and Around the world".  Monies were collected during the week of camp to be divided between T&E Care and an orphanage in Ethiopia. We were thrilled to be included in this special drive and thank all those who made donations.
  • 7/11/11 - Much appreciation to Citizens Bank Foundation for giving us a grant to be used to help with rent and utility assistance to local families.  It's great to know that the local banks are willing to support this important initiative!
  • 7/5/11 - Thanks to the Elizabeth Robinson for her efforts in writing a grant to the Connelly Foundation, and to that foundation for awarding us with some assistance in our various efforts to help local families!  A terrific partnership!
  • 6/25/11 - We learned that T&E Kids Care (at CHS club) did fundraisers during the year, and have sent us $500 to help with our various projects.  How great is that!  Many thanks to the whole CHS student body and staff for supporting the many club fundraisers - and to the T&E Kids Care participants for their ongoing efforts on behalf of so many local families!
  • 6/21/11 - WOW - the local T/E teachers did it again!  Today was the TEEA walk for T&E Care and FLITE.  The teachers who participated in the walk were one very enthusiastic group!  Those teachers and many others made donations which will be divided for both T&E Care and FLITE - and this extra support will certainly be put to good use!  Many thanks to the TEEA!
  • 6/19/11 - A "regular" supporter of T&E Care - Play It Again Sports in Berwyn - has been wonderful again!  One of the kids taking advantage of our Camp Assistance Program needed a tennis racquet, and the family was able to get one from Play It Again for free.  Thanks so much for their continued help to local families!
  • 5/3/11 - 2 of our great volunteers are the guys who help us with our computers.  Joe Bolmarcich does the refurbishing for all our donated computers.  Bruce Gibbard helps set up the new laptops we give to seniors going to college.  We are so very thankful tothese 2 community members for sharing their incredible talents to help out so many people.
  • 4/1/11 - Hats off to Pete at Pete's Auto Service in Malvern for helping with a recent car repair for a local family.  Pete offered a great discount in making a signficant repair for this car - enabling the family to get the car fixed and get back to their jobs.   Thanks to Pete for being part of our T&E Care Car group!
  • 1/25/11 - Members of St. Luke Evangelical Lutheran Church (Devon) have again blessed our organization by choosing T&E Care in the Alternative Gift Program last December.  Thanks to all those at St. Luke's!
  • The weekend of January 22/23  a large group of community members came together to help out some local families in need.  We had 3 different people offering furniture (one was a significant amount!), and 9 different families needing furniture.  We were able to find 8 different folks with trucks wiling to help move the furniture, and a number of the members and the coach of the CHS Ice Hockey Team plus a few other CHS students offered their muscles - and we were able to make the move much quicker than anyone thought.  Many many thanks to all those who helped out - the families receiving the furniture were THRILLED and very thankful for our help.    Two notes that we received stated:
    • THANK YOU T & E cares!  I cannot thank you enough for the perpetual kindness that you show towards my family and me.  My entire experience w/ T & E cares has been both humbling and amazing.  Not only are you responsive to my concerns, but proactive as well.
In response to today, my children said "TE cares and these guys 'Rock'!"   Although my husband was at work when the gentlemen came to our home, I know we both concur with our children's sentiment.  Please again thank your "moving gentlemen" for their helpfulness and pleasant attitude.  Not only did they remove our broken floor model TV, but a couple of the younger gentlemen complimented my children on their bunkbeds (they have a homemade tent over their bed for fun).  That made my children smile, and feel good. Again, we sincerely thank you.  Please consider how we can be helpful...now or later.  I continue to pray Gods fullest blessings on you, and yours.  Have a great night, and a wonderful week!
    •  I really appreciate your help and generosity by giving us a bookcase and the dresser, in cold day you delivering to the community what they need... IT IS ACT OF LOVE AND BLESSING FROM GOD - THANK YOU VERY MUCH - WITH ALL MY RESPECTS
